Biographical History

Tina Leser, born Christina Wetherill Shillard-Smith in Philadelphia, 1910, was a fashion designer during the 1930s - early 1980s.

She began selling her designs in Honolulu, Hawaii, and in 1941 she moved her business to New York. Leser sold her own designs, under the label Tina Leser originals, 1953-1982, and also designed for companies, such as Edwin H. Foreman sportswear, and Gabar swimsuits. Leser became famous for her international, cross-cultural design style that blended aesthetic influences, textiles and trims from around the world to create casual ready-to-wear clothing. Tina Leser died in 1986.
