Biographical History

John May (1686-1770) was born in Roxbury, Mass., and moved to Woodstock, Conn., in 1710. He married Elizabeth Child (1691-1752) of Brookline, Mass., in 1711. In addition to his farming activities, May was a proprietor and officer of the town of Woodstock and served the community in such capacities as: bridge builder, school teacher, deacon, and captain of Woodstock's Second Company at the time of the Land Bank Secession.
