Biographical History
Frederick Nathaniel Fletcher was born in China, Maine, on September 15, 1856, the son of Abisha and Miriam (Spratt) Fletcher. He married Isabel (Belle) French in 1883. In 1891 he and his wife, daughter Ethel and son Harold moved to Helena, Montana. Fred went into a real estate and mining partnership with John N. Glass. The company owned a mining claim in Pony. He was secretary of the Basin Mining and Concentrating Co. from 1892 to 1895, in partnership with his cousin Augustus N. Spratt and banker Erastus D. Edgerton. He was one of the founders of the Unitarian Church in Helena. About 1897, the Fletchers moved to Berkeley, California, and later Nevada. He was the author of "Early Nevada : the period of exploration, 1776-1848" (1929). Frederick Fletcher died July 21, 1954, in Berkeley, California.
