Kennon, Lyman W. V., d. 1918.

Lyman W.V. Kennon graduated from the United States Military Academy (USMA), West Point, New York on June 11, 1881. He was soon assigned to the 6th Infantry and performed duties at various posts in Utah and Nebraska. He served as aide-de-camp to General George Crook from 1886-1890. He was part of an engineer survey team to Central America and later established a military academy in Central America. He served both in Cuba and the Philippines during the Spanish-American War / Philippine Insurrection and while in the Philippines was engineer officer in charge of the construction of the Baguio Road. He served in the orient for eight years. Returning to the United States (U.S.) in 1909, he served at various posts sometimes as an engineer advisor. In 1915, he worked in building a military road in Hawaii. In 1917, he was appointed brigadier general, National Army, and commanded the 171st Depot Brigade, Camp Grant, Illinois, and Camp Greene, Charlotte, North Carolina. He died while still in service on September 9, 1918.
