Biographical History
The Universalist Historical Society was founded in 1834 to collect and preserve manuscripts, books, and printed material related to the subject and denomination of Universalism, and to promote publication on the same subject. Its headquarters were in Boston. The Society's library was housed at Tufts College from 1869 until 1976 when it was given to the Andover-Harvard Theological Library, Harvard Divinity School. The Society itself was consolidated with the Unitarian Historical Society in 1978 to form the Unitarian Universalist Historical Society.
