Biographical History
William F. Goodrich was the son of Amos Goodrich of Middlebury, Vt. In 1838 he went to New York State to sell beehives for John M. Weeks; letters from 1838 and 1839 to Weeks (in the Weeks family papers) describe his work. He appears to have returned to Vermont shortly afterwards and settled in Salisbury where he was a farmer. Otis Goodrich, William's brother, is mentioned in William's letters and diary. There is very little information about him elsewhere but there is evidence that he lived in Salisbury in the 1830s and later moved to Shoreham. The Otis Goodrich who was captain in the Vermont Militia in 1826 may or may not be the same person.
