Veteran's organization.
Association of veterans of American wars. Formed by a group of World War I officers, the American Legion is the world's largest veteran's organization.
The American Legion was founded in 1919 by veterans returning from Europe after World War I. It is an organization of United States wartime veterans which provides a social forum and political lobby for its members.
The American Legion was founded in 1919. It consists of honorably discharged wartime veterans of the United States armed forces. The organization works to improve and protect veterans' benefits and also conducts charitable activities.
American Legion conducted a contest to choose Alaska's flag design. Benny Benson's design was adopted by the Alaska legislature in 1927;
the winning entry is on display at the Alaska State Museum, Juneau.
