Biographical History

Early resident of Chicago and first settler of Wilmette and Evanston.

Born near Montreal, Canada, Ouilmette came to Chicago in 1790 and worked for John Kinzie. Sometime after 1826 and prior to 1829, Ouilmette moved to Gross Point (Evanston-Wilmette area) inhabiting land ceded to his Indian wife in the 1829 treaty with the Pottawatomi at Praire du Chien.
