Biographical History

Elizabeth C. Penick received her M. Sc. in experimental psychology from Tulane University and her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Washington University in St. Louis in 1975. Sometime prior to April 1968, she was director of the Psychology Laboratory, St. Louis Children's Hospital. Ms. Penick was coordinator of Community Psychological Services at the Malcolm Bliss Mental Health Center in St. Louis in November 1973. In 2008, she was Professor of Psychology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She is the co-author of the Psychiatric Diagnostic Interview. In 2008, she divides her time between clinical work as a licensed clinical psychologist, teaching, and research. Her research interests have focused on the antecedents and consequences of alcoholism.
