Biographical History

Hermes (1931-2005) was born in De Pere, Wisconsin.

He joined the Army in 1949 and served in Japan with the Occupation Force and in Korea during the beginning of the Korean War (1950-1951), where he was wounded in combat. After the war, Hermes served as a quartermaster in France until he was discharged in 1954. Upon his return, he got married and worked at the Proctor and Gamble Mill (called Hobarts at the time) for thirty-six years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
