Biographical History
This collection pertains to James Fitzgerald an artist who summered on Monhegan Island. His work was championed by Edgar and Anne Hubert, patrons of the arts and summer residents of Monhegan Island. Fitzgerald lived for a time in the cottage once owned by Rockwell Kent. This cottage was acquired by the Huberts and upon Anne's death left to the Monhegan Museum along with 80 of Fitzgerald's paintings. The museum will preserve the cottage and make the paintings available to a wider audience.
