Biographical History

A. J. Granoff was born on February 22, 1896, in Kiev, Russia. He immigrated with his family to the United States in 1904, and lived in New York City, Palmerton and Allentown, Pennsylvania until 1915. In 1915 he settled in Kansas City, Missouri. He received his LL.B in 1920 from the University of Kansas Law School. In 1924 he became a member of Achtenberg, Fredman and Granoff law firm in Kansas City. From 1947 to 1948 he was involved in efforts, along with Eddie Jacobson, to persuade President Harry S. Truman to support the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine. From 1950 to 1952 he was the President of the Mid-West Lodge of B'nai B'rith (Lodge No. 184, Kansas City, Missouri). He was named President of the Eddie Jacobson Memorial Foundation in 1955. He died in Kansas City, Missouri, on January 6, 1970.
