Foley (d. 1977) was editor of the annual "Best American Short Stories" collection for 37 years. She was also co-founder and co-editor of "Story" magazine. At the time of her death, she was working on a book, "The Story of Story Magazine," which was edited for publication by Jay Neugeboren.
