Biographical History

John Joseph Lane (b. March 31, 1909, Revere, Mass.), U.S. Army officer, graduated from West Point in 1933 and was an instructor at the Academy from 1938 to 1943 before assuming command of the 438th Anti-Aircraft Battalion during World War II. Following the War, he was a member of the international affairs group on the General Staff and director of personnel for logistics, Department of the Army. Beginning in 1962, General Lane served as commanding general, Transportation Training Center and Commandant, Transportation School.
