Biographical History

South Carolina plantation owner, businessman, mayor of Charleston S.C., and South Carolina state representative. He was the son of Thomas Horry (1748-1820), a plantation owner and South Carolina state legislator. His first wife was Harriet Vanderhorst (d. 1815), who was the mother of William Branford Horry (1799-1808), Thomas Lynch Horry (1806-1871), and Harriet Vanderhorst Horry (1808-1900), who married Edward Frost.

Georgetown County, South Carolina plantation owner. Elias Horry was a Charleston, South Carolina attorney and a South Carolina Representative. Horry married Harriet Vanderhorst (d. 1815) in 1797. After the death of his first wife, Horry married Mary Rutledge Shubrick in 1817. His children were William Branford Shubrick Horry (1818-1863), Julia Elizabeth Horry Trapier (1825-1881), Edward Shubrick Horry (1827-1892), and Paul Trapier Horry (1829-1878).
