Biographical Note: Lucy Rebecca Buck was born in 1842.
She was an elder daughter of William Mason Buck and Elizabeth Ann Ashby Buck and resided at the family farm, Bel Air, in Front Royal, Virginia. Lucy Rebecca Buck's life centered on the domestic routines of a large household. As the Civil War escalated, Buck and her family were exposed to the occupation of Union troops. She was challenged to maintain the everyday pattern of family life during a difficult period. She was a fervent supporter of the Confederacy and was grieved by the final defeat of the South in 1865. Lucy Rebecca Buck died in 1918.
