Biographical History

The Zeta Psi Club was founded at Harvard in 1852 as the Rho chapter of Zeta Psi fraternity. It existed until 1857, when Greek letter societies were banned by the faculty. It resumed in 1864, and closed again in 1867. In 1882, it was re-organized, and existed as a member of the fraternity until 1892; in that year it became a separate organization, while retaining the name, and became the Zeta Psi Club. In 1900, the club was made final (that is, members could no longer join any other similar club.) The name changed to the Spee Club in March 1914 to more accurately reflect the disassociation of the club with the fraternity.
