Biographical History

Rufus A. Peck, a farmer of New Providence, Clark County, Ind., served as Captain of Company E, 53rd Indiana Volunteers during the Civil War. He saw duty at Camp Morton, Indianapolis, and in Tennessee near Shiloh and at Hatchie. He and his wife Lydia had a son, Theodore.
