Biographical History
Homo Heights was filmed in Minneapolis and St. Paul during August and September 1996, and premiered at the State Theater in Minneapolis in October 1997 during the Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. The producers of the film were Kate Lehmann, a Minneapolis native, and Sara Moore, who also served as the film's director. The film was generally favorably reviewed. Variety called it "...a surreal, soapy and amusingly offbeat pic". The film opened at a time when gay and lesbian characters and plots had gained a footing in moviegoer's consciousness. The film moved away from character-driven story-lines popular at the time and instead went for outrageous effect and broad campy humor.
The film starred Quentin Crisp and Lea DeLaria, and used many local artists and technicians in the production.
