Helena Maria Sickert, b. 1864, in Munich, Germany, of an English mother and Danish father; family moved to England when Helena was four years old; educated at Girton College, Cambridge; married Frederick Tertius Swanwick in 1888; author, journalist, and lecturer involved in peace activism, feminism, and social justice; chair of the British Section of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, 1915?-1922; British delegate to the League of Nations, 1924-193?; d. Maidenhead, England, 1939.
