The Air Pollution Control Commission was created by Public Act 348 of 1965. Initially under the jurisdiction of the Michigan Department of Public Health, the commission was transferred to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources by Executive Order 1973-2a. The commission was empowered to promulgate rules, issue permits and issue orders for the control of air pollution. The Michigan Air Pollution Control Commission was abolished in 1991.
