Biographical History

Spanish priest, explorer, and chronicler.

Born in Málaga, sometime between 1530 and 1535, Cabello Valboa came to America in 1566 and first settled in Bogotá. He later moved to Quito, where he became a lay priest in 1571. That same year, he accompanied Diego de Bazán on his expedition to the jungles of Chocó, and continued his travels and explorations to isolated and unsettled provinces of Peru over the next ten years.
