Moll is a Michigan author and past member of the Clarke Historical Library Board of Governors at Central Michigan University.

Houvel arrived in Canada from France on Aug. 4, 1662. He ws named Superior of the Missions to the Ottawas on Jan. 1, 1676. Houvel was the first priest at Sault Ste. Marie (Mich.) and visited Lake Huron, St. Igance (Mich.) and Green Bay (Wis.). He stayed with the Ottawa Mission until 1704. (No further information is available on Houvel.) Moll wrote the introduction to the book entitled, "Into the wilderness with the red Indians," (1996).
