Biographical History

Jacob Gooding was a nineteenth century merchant of New Bern, N.C. During the Civil War, when New Bern was occupied by Union Forces, his store on Craven Street was utilized by the Union government, and Gooding was appointed superintendent of Poor Whites for Craven County.
