Biographical History

James Kenney (1780-1849), dramatist, was born in Ireland. He was employed in the banking-house of Herries, Farquhar and Co., where he became involved in private threatrical works. Thereafter, he became a successful writer of farces and comedies for the stage. Kenney's works include Raising the wind (1803), Turn him out, a musical (1812), and Sweethearts and wives, a drama (1823). He died at Brompton on 25 July 1849.
