The basis for this record group is photographs that were taken from the Thomas and Georgine Mickler Collection, the UCF Libraries, Special Collections vertical file,as well as, other purchases and acessions.

The Florida Image collection contains images and picture postcards obtained from other UCF Archives collections, as well as purchases and donations. The majority come from the The Thomas and Georgine Mickler Collection. The Mickler collection was partly purchased and donated to the University. Other photos within the collection originated in the Special Collections Vertical File. The Vertical File contains a variety of collected materials on University of Central Florida, local history, typography and book arts, and the West Indies, subjects relating to the collections held by Special Collections. Also included in the collection are images from the Children's Home Society of Florida collection.
