Biographical History

Harry Joseph Weiss was a professor (1953-1989) of mathematics and engineering mechanics at Iowa State University. Weiss was born on February 15, 1923, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Prior to coming to Iowa State, Weiss worked at Carnegie Technical Institute (Carnegie Mellon University) and Brown University. As a member of the faculty at Iowa State, Weiss also served as a consultant for several aerospace firms. His main focus of research was in applied mathematics, continuum mechanics, and integral transforms.
