Rochester Institute of Technology. Institutional Advancement Commission

The Rochester Institute of Technology's (RIT) Institutional Advancement Commission was started in 1975. Its purpose was to advise the president of the university and the Board of Trustees on the future direction of the Institute. The Commission began collecting data on the various colleges of the university in the spring of 1976. Additionally, they solicited feedback from the various corporations that had hired RIT graduates. This data, along with research on the field of higher education, public relations of the Institute, and the unique aspects of the institution were used to create a report. The report was titled "Renewal and Responsiveness: Guiding principles, purposes and processes for sustaining the momentum, uniqueness and public service through the 1980s of the Rochester Institute of Technology," and was published in March 1977. The report pulled data from various sources and discussed the implications for RIT as it headed into the next decade. The report also discussed RIT's identity among opinion leaders, alumni, and the community.
