Biographical History

Henry H. Hay owned the H.H. Hay Company, which was established in 1841 and located at the corner of Free and Middle Streets in Portland, Me. Hay conducted a wholesale and retail drug business in Portland for 52 years., dealing in fine chemicals and drugs, as well as paints, oils, and dyestuffs. After his death in 1895, the business was carried on by his sons, Edward A. Hay and Charles M. Hay, as H.H. Hay & Sons.
