Perry, Charles E., 1937-1999

Student and later administrator at Bowling Green State University, serving as an admissions counselor, director of admissions, director of development, and assistant to the president. Later served as president of Florida International University.

Dean and professor.

Charles E. Perry is Dean Emeritus and Distinguished Adjunct Professor of the Graduate School of Management at the University of Dallas. He has a broad background in education, government and business. He was a graduate of Ohio's Bowling Green State University, after which he taught English and history in the East Detroit School System. At the age of 21, he returned to Bowling Green as Admissions Counselor and two years later became Director of Admissions, Director of Development.

And Assistant to the President. He was later appointed Special Assistant to the Governor for Educational Affairs, and headed the State's Commission for Quality Education, developing Florida's master plan for education. He then became Vice Chancellor of the State University System of Florida. At age 30, he became the youngest university president in the nation, as founding president of Florida International University.

When Perry resigned as president of FIU, the university was the fourth largest in Florida with 15,000 students. Perry then moved to the private sector, where he served in administrative roles in a wide variety of businesses.
