Biographical History

Howard Cocks Sherwood (1870-1957) was a founder of the Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities. He owned the Jayne family homestead in East Setauket, L.I., (now referred to as the Sherwood-Jayne house) from around 1908 until his death, when the house became property of SPLIA.
