Seymour Lubetzky was born in Zelwa, Poland, Apr. 28, 1898; married Beatrice Charnas; BA, UCLA, 1931; MA, UC Berkeley, 1934; General Secondary Teachers Credential, 1932; Certificate of Librarianship, 1934; cataloger, UCLA, 1936-42; Chief, Catalog Maintenance Division, Library of Congress, 1943-60; Professor, UCLA School of Library Service, 1960-69; received Honorary Doctor of Laws presented by the UC Regents, 1969; since 1969, he has written various articles related to Anglo-American cataloging rules and has been an occassional guest lecturer.
