Incorporated in Kentucky in 1884 by an act that changed the name of Louisville, Harrodsburg, and Virginia Railroad Company; line opened from Louisville to Burgin, Ky., in 1888 (83 miles); consolidated with Versailles and Midway Railway Company in 1889; part of East Tennessee, Virginia, and Georgia system (1890-1892); controlled by Southern Railway Company after 1894.
