John Smyth (1567-1640), from Nibley in Gloucestershire, England, was one of the original promoters of plantations and settlements in the second Virginia colony in North America. He was the author of "Lives of the Berkeleys".
John Smyth of Nibley was a genealogical antiquary. This manuscript was written from 1589 to 1591, while he was at Magdalen College, Oxford (1587-1594).
