Biographical History
Edith Bunker Davis was born in 1900 in Amanziontoti, Natal, South Africa to Congregational missionaries Fred and Isabel Bunker, then serving the Zulu Mission of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions. Edith graduated from Oberlin High School in 1917 and from Oberlin College in 1922, taking the A.B. in English. In 1924, she married Paul Ernest Davis (d. 1986) and settled in East Williston, Long Island, New York. There, she raised three children, Virginia (b. 1926), Alison (b. 1929), and Fred Bunker Davis (b. 1931). She was active in community and church affairs and maintained a steady correspondence with friends around the world. She died in 1991.
