Arthur L. Harris, Jr. (1910 - ) was born in Georgia in 1910. His father was Arthur P. Harris and his mother unknown. Harris graduated from Yale University with a degree in French in 1931 then attended Harvard Law School until 1934. After finishing law school, he moved back to Atlanta and worked for the Hirsch, Smith, and Kilpatrick law firm until 1936. He then worked as the executive vice president of his father's business, the Atlanta Paper Company, until 1942. Harris was active in the Atlanta community and was a member of the Atlanta Lawyers Club, the Georgia Bar Association, the Atlanta Rotary Club, the Community Fund, and the Red Cross. He was also director of the Atlanta Freight Bureau, Chairman of the Atlanta United Service Organization, and was president of the Atlanta Travelers Aid Society. During World War II, Harris worked in the Army as Captain at the CMP Control Branch in the Resources and Production Division. He was married to Carol W. but divorced her in January of 1943. The couple had no children.
