Douglas Huntly Gordon (1902-1986) was the son of Douglas Huntly Gordon (1866-1918), banker, of Baltimore, Md., and Elizabeth Iris Southall (Clarke) Gordon (1871-1958). Following her husband's death, Mrs. Gordon married first, in 1923, J. Wilmer Biddle of Philadelphia, Pa., and following Mr. Biddle's death in 1927, she married Alexander Gordon, a first cousin of her first husband. This last marriage ended in divorce in 1935. Douglas Huntly Gordon Sr. was the son of Douglas Hamilton Gordon (1817-1883) and his second wife, Anne Eliza (Pleasants) Gordon (1836-1901). Anne Eliza was the daughter of John Hampden Pleasants (1797-1846), who was killed as the result of a duel with Thomas Ritchie. Douglas Hamilton Gordon was the brother of John Montgomery Gordon (1810-1884) of Baltimore, whose diary is included.
