Biographical History
Morris B. Abram (1918- ) lawyer, human rights advocate, and diplomat, born in Fitzgerald, Georgia. Abram has served in various capacities for government and political organizations such as Peace Corps (1961), White House Conference on Civil Rights (1965), United Nations Commission on Civil Rights (1965-1968), United States Committe on Civil Rights (1984-1986), New York (State) Moreland Commission on Nursing Homes and Residential Facilities (1975-1976), President's Commission for the Study of Ethical Problems in medicine and Biomedical and Behavioral Research (1979-1983), and the National Conference on Soviet Jewry (1983-2000). Under President Bush, he served as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, and founded United Nations Watch following his term as Ambassador Along with practicing law in New York (1962- ), he also served as Chairman of the Board, Benjamin N. Cardoza Law School, Yeshiva University (1976-1979). He is the author of an autobiography, THE DAY IS SHORT: AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY (1982).
