Biographical History
The President's Council developed in the 1970s out of President Dallin H. Oaks' habit of inviting members of the administration to participate in his weekly meetings with his two policy-making vice-presidents. The meeting became a regular part of university administration under President Jeffrey R. Holland. The President's Council holds meetings on a regular basis (several times a month) and is responsible for reviewing and approving all matters pertaining to the administration of Brigham Young University.
The Brigham Young University Office of the President outlines several aims which it strives to equip every student with. An education at Brigham Young University should be spiritually strengthening, intellectually enlarging, character building and lead to lifelong learning and service.
