Biographical History
Native of Peterborough, N.H.; and shopkeeper of a general store during the boom town years of the Mormon community of Nauvoo, Ill. established by Joseph Smith.
Hill was a contributor to the construction of the Mormon temple begun by Smith in 1840. When the Mormons left Nauvoo in 1846, Hill possibly accompanied them and set up business again in Salt Lake City.
