Biographical History
Thomas Bird Mosher, a native of Maine, devoted himself to printing beautiful books at low cost in small, inexpensive formats. He selected works which, in his opinion, represented the best of their era and country, and he issued over 500 titles before his death in 1923. Subsequent trade editions were confined to reprinting of earlier Mosher titles, and subsidized printings soon reflected the lack of Mosher's personal influence.
