Biographical History
Quotes, with permission, a motif from Arnold Bax's Coronation March, 1953. Composed 1976. First performance Cork Choral Festival, Cork, Ireland, 3 May 1978, Cork Symphony Orchestra, Aloys Fleischmann conductor. The work exists also in a reduced concert version made 1977-78.--Cf. Fleisher Collection.
Based on tunes of Turlaugh O'Carolan (1670-1738), a blind Irish harper. Composed 1976. First performance Radio Telefís Eireann, Dublin, 6 October 1977, R.T.E. Light Orchestra, John Hughes conductor. Also exists in a version for harpsichord or piano.--Cf. Fleisher Collection.
