Biographical History

Egbert W. Smith, a Presbyterian minister, worked for the Presbyterian Church in the U.S. Executive Committee of Foreign Missions as Executive Secretary, 1912-1932, and as Field Secretary, 1932-1944.

Egbert Watson Smith was valedictorian of the Davidson College class of 1882. After graduation, he attended Union Theological Seminary. He served as a pastor in North Carolina and Kentucky. He was also Executive Secretary of Foreign Missions and lived in Nashville, Tennessee. His brother Henry Louis Smith, class of 1892, became president of Davidson College in 1901.
