Biographical History

Bertha Allen was the wife of David D. Allen and a presbyterian missionary on the Spokane Indian Reservation in the late 1890's. The collection includes some of her diaries that contain daily entries detailing all facets of the life of a missionaries wife, mostly relating to their service at the Cushman Indian School near Tacoma and the mission at Taholah, on the Washington coast.
