Biographical History

R. Beal Pumphrey, Jr. was a native of Taylor, Texas, and the son of a pioneer cattleman. He worked as assistant to the general manager and president of the San Antonio Union Stockyards from 1937 to his death in 1957. Prior to that time he had worked for the Kansas City stockyards. Pumphrey was also a founder of the San Antonio Livestock Exposition.
