Biographical History
Napoleon Noel Nadeau was born December 25, 1889 in Marinette, Wisconsin. Following his graduation from Marinette High School, he attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison for three years where he studied and worked as a photographer. He was then employed by the Hibbard Studio in Minneapolis for seven years before opening his own photographic studio. In 1932, Nadeau was hired as department photographer for the Conservation Department and charged with both documenting the work of the department and producing photographs for educational purposes. His work was used in exhibits, as well as being published in newspapers and journals including the Minnesota Conservationist. He served in this capacity until 1937.
Nadeau also developed the first aero camera used in the United States, made the first aero photographs in the Twin Cities, and served in the Secret Service and the National Guard during World War II. The date of his death is unknown.
This biographical information was taken from the Minnesota Department of Conservation Commissioner's office general correspondence (cataloged separately).
