Steinberg, Jack, 1915-2000.

Seattle attorney and newspaper editor, Jack Steinberg (1915-2000), practiced law for 61 years and was active in Jewish community affairs, most notably through his involvement with the Seattle Talmud Torah Hebrew School and the American Jewish Congress. Steinberg was the owner of the law firm Steinberg & Steinberg. In 1929, he became president of Seattle Talmud Torah Hebrew School (which was renamed the Seattle Hebrew Academy in 1969). Steinberg also helped to found the Seattle division of the American Jewish Congress, a pro-Zionist, national public affairs and human rights agency, which fought against anti-Semitism and other forms of racial discrimination. He became the president of the Seattle branch in 1939. In later life, Steinberg also served as the editor of the Jewish monthly newspaper, The Washington Examiner.
