Biographical History
John Ives (1751-1776) was an antiquarian and officer of arms at the College of Arms in London. In 1771 he was elected as a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London, and made a fellow of the Royal Society in 1773.
George Ashby (1724-1808), clergyman and antiquarian, was educated at Eton College and St. John's College, Cambridge. Although he published little himself, he was a correspondent of John Nichols, Thomas Percy, John Gough, James Granger, Daines Barrington, and others and contributed to their work on a number of scholarly topics. He was elected a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries in 1775.
