Richard Aldrich, theatrical producer.

Richard Aldrich (1863-1937) graduated in 1885 from Harvard University, where he studied music with John Knowles Paine. After serving as music critic for the Providence Journal, the Evening Star in Washington, D.C., and various editorial posts at the New York Tribune, he was named the chief music critic to the New York Times in ca. 1902, a post he held until 1924. Aldrich also authored several books on music criticism and was an avid collector who put together one of the finest private music libraries, now a part of the Eda Kuhn Loeb Music Library at Harvard University.
