Composed 1959. First performance Museum of Art, Philadelphia, 27 September 1959, members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, William R. Smith, conductor.--Cf. Fleisher Collection.
Originally composed for piano, 1934; orchestrated 1939. First performance Oakland, California, 25 October 1940, Northern California Symphony Orchestra of the WPA, Nathan Abas conducting. As a piano suite it was awarded the Bearns Prize of $1,200 given by Columbia University, 1936.--Cf. Fleisher Collection.
